Manchester City FC has eventually crept up on every team in the English Premier League (EPL) in the past few weeks without anyone taking notice until now
All the discourse about the English Premier League (EPL) in recent weeks has been about Chelsea FC’s fluctuating performances, Liverpool’s campaign to retain the title, Tottenham and Manchester United’s temporarily visit to the top of the league table.
Guardiola’s men started the season in a dismal fashion by accumulating 2 losses and 5 draws in first 12 Premier League games of the season. By December 15, 2020, Manchester City was at sixth place, five points behind then-league-leaders Tottenham Hotspur and everyone was beginning to write their season off then as it seemed like a race between Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United.
Since December 19th, they have grabbed all 15 EPL points available on their way to third place.
Manchester City have one game in hand when they play today with 35 pts. They currently sit at third position on the table….3pts behind current league leaders (Leicester City FC) and 2 pts behind fierce rivals Manchester United.
If Guardiola‘s men win today’s game with one game in hand, it means that the EPL is just about to begin with all the stars aligned coincidentally. Meaning all the top ten EPL teams will now be within top half of the table with only 11 pts between the 1st team and the tenth team.
Even if Manchester United win their game against Fulham today, its only a matter of time before they get knocked off again by mostly Manchester City or Liverpool as Manchester United are currently accidental league leaders.
This is one of the many reasons why the EPL is the most loved and followed football league in the world. It is never predictable till the very end (most times).
Welcome to the EPL.
