UEFA will launch the Semi-Automated Offside Technology (SAOT) in European club competitions this 2022/ 2023 European season, with today’s event being its debut. The SAOT will monitor and track 29 different body points per player via specialized cameras and thereby increase the efficiency of offside calls by VAR teams.
