“If I had played in England I would have destroyed it, like I have everywhere else” – Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Standing at 6ft 5in and armed with goals, trophies and personal awards, Ibrahimovic was recognized by the great Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima a.k.a.”the phenomenom” as the ‘world’s best striker’ in 2015. This is a great recognition for the Swede coming from his personal idol, especially now that the world is still filled with other fearsome strikers like Christiano Ronaldo, Luiz Suarez, Edinson Cavani, Robert Lewandoski, Carlos Tevez, Gonzalez Higuain, Diego Costa and Lionel Messi.

Ibrahimovic could be tagged to be the ‘travelling swordsman’ who moves from one famous soccer city to another dealing deadly blows to records cast in stone by rewriting history with his undying hunger for goals and of course…incredible goals.

‘Ibradacabra’ as he is fondly called due to the impact of his magical presence on the soccer field, started his career as an attacking midfielder with Malmö FF in 1996. After scoring 18 goals in 47 games with no personal or club trophies, he moved to Ajax FC in 2001 and that marked the beginning of his sojourn for greatness.Ironically, his first move from Malmö FF would have been to the English Premier League (EPL) in 1998 if he had honored Arsene Wenger’s invitation to audition for Arsenal FC, but he turned down the offer saying “Zlatan doesn’t do auditions.”

Ajax was a mixed experience for Ibrahimovic but he did not let that get to him as he left the Dutch league for the Italian Serie A with 110 games, 48 goals and three trophies. Juventus FC a.k.a ‘The old lady of Turin’ became Ibrahimovic’s 1st home in Italy. His romance with ‘The old lady of Turin’ ended in 2006 when the team was relegated to Serie B due to the famous ‘Calciopoli scandal’ and he left with 92 appearances, 26 goals and 2 Serie A trophies which where revoked from Juventus due to the famous match fixing scandal. F.C. Internazionale Milano a.k.a Inter Milan became his second Italian home in 2006, where he bagged 66 goals in 117 appearances and five club trophies. In 2009, FC Barcelona could not resist Ibrahimovic’s heroics in Italy and signed him to play with great strikers like Thierry Henry and Lionel Messi. He proved his worth amidst tough competition by representing Barcelona 46 times and scoring 22 goals which  helped Barcelona grab 5 trophies during the 2009 -2010 season. Being a normad,  Ibrahimovic headed back to Italy to team up with Associazione Calcio Milan a.k.a AC Milan to win 2 trophies within the 2010 – 2011 season with the help of his 56 goals in 85 appearances for the club between 2010 – 2012.

Currently playing for Paris Saint-Germain a.k.a. PSG in the French league since 2012, Ibrahimovic has transformed himself to a god in the Ligue 1. He currently has 178 appearances for PSG and has matched it with 152 goals and 11 local trophies. At 34 years old, Ibrahimovic still plays like a regular 24 year old and is still roaring to go, hence his reason for leaving PSG at the end of his current 2015-2016 season since he has conquered all at France already.

He has played in every major European league except the German Bundesliga which he will surely be ignoring since it is a one-team league. With English teams like Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham in need of firepower to aid their individual 2016-2017 campaigns…the English Premier League, will be the best place for him to crown his glory since they would all offer him the limelight he craves, the hefty weekly wages he loves and also the challenge of hopefully winning the UEFA` Champions League. He currently holds the record of being the only player to score for 6 different soccer clubs in the UEFA Champions League.

On the international scene, he is Sweden’s highest goal scorer with 62 goals and in 2012 he had the chance to really “destroy England” by scoring 4 incredible goals against the English national team in an international friendly match. All four goals scored by Ibrahimovic in that match – especially the fourth, are glimpses of what England should expect if he decides to carry out his threat against the English Premier League.

His departure from PSG will be his last chance to “destroy England”, lift the evasive UEFA Champions League and seal history books as the only player to score in the UEFA Champions League with 7 different teams. All 3  attractions are his most desires, so what would be Ibrahimovic’s excuse for not wanting to destroy England like he has done everywhere else?
